Overview

The Log Builder bar offers the following features:

  • Toggle between Preview Editor and Table Editor.
  • Print the log at any time.
  • Convert the log to a Conditional Log .

Customizing Log Templates

The Log Builder allows users to customize log templates with two main options:

  • Columns: Define the fields that will collect data.
  • Pre-Populated Rows: Automatically fill in data for each log entry. (ONLY AVAILABLE IN TABLE EDITOR)

Column Types

Users can add various field types as columns in the log template:

  • Checkboxes: Allow multiple selections.
  • Date: A field for entering dates. (Optional: Track expiration dates and set up email notifications for upcoming expirations.)
  • Dropdown: A list of options with a single selection.
  • Inventory: Select multiple items from the inventory database, with optional quantity input.
  • Mobile Scan: Use a mobile scanner to upload documents (PC/Laptop users can upload files instead).
  • Numeric: A field for number-only input.
  • Radio Buttons: Single selection from a list of options.
  • Signature: Capture signatures, including date and time.
  • Text: Free-form text input.
  • Time: A time input selector.

Helpful Hint: Any column can be marked as Required. All required fields must be filled out to complete the log entry.

Collecting New Values

Columns can be set to Always collect a new value (this option is checked by default). This setting controls whether a previous value will carry over or if a new value must be entered.

  • Example: For an expiration date column, uncheck this option if the expiration date should carry over from the previous entry.

The blue dot indicates that a column is set to always collect a new value.

Reordering Columns

Columns can be easily reordered with drag-and-drop:

  • Click the column box.
  • Hold and drag it to the desired position.

Setting Alerts

Users can set up alerts for specific columns to notify when a value is out of compliance.

Helpful Hint: Alerts are available for dropdown, radio buttons and numeric columns only.

Pre-Populated Rows

Must Know! This can only be done in Table Editor (versus Preview Editor)

Pre-populated rows automatically fill certain fields for each log entry, saving time and reducing errors.

  • Example: For a crash cart log, pre-populate fields such as Location, Item, and Quantity to save time and minimize data entry mistakes.

Helpful Hint: Pre-population is available for text and numeric columns. For numeric fields, this only works if 'Always collect a new value' is unchecked.
